Our story
It started years
earlier, in Milan.
designwhere didn’t start as an idea for a platform.
In 2017, we founded Isola in the neighbourhood we called home, with the idea of creating a space for independent and emerging designers during Milan Design Week. What started locally grew into an international design community. Over the years, Isola took us from Milan to different cities around the world, working with thousands of designers, studios, galleries and creative spaces.
Our job was often about discovery: finding new talent, unexpected locations and the people making things happen beyond the usual design circuit.
We moved from
Milan to Dubai.
We took what we had learned through Isola, from years of discovering, curating and connecting design communities, and started building the platform we wished we had when we first arrived.
We’re starting in Dubai, where the idea was born. But just like our journey, designwhere was made to travel.
